Cayman Tarpon Fishing!

Grand Cayman Fishing Report For Friday, February 16, 2024. Captain Omar provided a great Tarpon adventure for a couple this week!  Excitedly, the couple and Captaim Omar from Morning Spirit Charters left the Cayman Islands Yacht Club at 4:30 pm and headed to nearby Morgans Harbour.

First off, Matt brought in a nice tarpon to start the afternoon.

Next, they then had a big 75 lb. “Silver King” on the line.  “As a matter of fact, the fish took the spinning reel line down to the braid and broke off, said Matt.”

In addition, the pair had a few other catches and a total of 6 strikes.  Matt said,

Tarpon fishing Grand Cayman style is done inside the harbors and canals and packs a BIG thrill. The “Silver Kings” are large (some are 80 lbs or more!) and make powerful runs and thrashing jumps to try to shake the hook. Grand Cayman Tarpons are easy sometimes to hook but difficult to land! They fight hard and make long runs. Patience is the key.

Captain Omar from Morning Spirit Charters loves to fish for Tarpon! Each Tuesday, he runs a 2.5-hour Semi-Private Tarpon fishing trip for individual guests. Consequently, you don’t need a group or have to bear the whole cost alone.  Semi-Private Tarpon trips are $250 per person.   Each trip is limited to  3 anglers. First come, first served. Reserve now!
