With the windy weather and rough seas, consider Grand Cayman reef fishing to Grand Cayman tarpon fishing. Both stay close to shore and are loads of fun and excitement.

Grand Cayman Reef Fishing

Reef fishing can be loads of fun. In general, angers catch more fish when reef fishing. Although reef species are smaller than the pelagic species targeted when deep-sea fishing, the action is greater. Enhanced, because you will use lighter fishing gear, reef species like Snapper, Grouper, Jacks, Triggers, and Turbot can give a good fight. All charters on fishcaymanislands.com love to reef fish and are experts at it.  December is open season for Conch and Grand Cayman Lobster. Your captain is happy to stop for either during your reef fishing trip.  In addition, consider adding a stop at Stingray City Sandbar or one of the beautiful coral reefs inside Grand Cayman’s North Sound to snorkel.

Grand Cayman Tarpon Fishing

Despite the windy weather that makes deep-sea fishing a poor choice, consider Tarpon Fishing. Tarpon fishing Grand Cayman style is done inside the harbors and canals and packs a BIG thrill. The “Silver Kings” are large (some are 80 lbs or more!) and make powerful runs and thrashing jumps to try to shake the hook. Grand Cayman Tarpon are pretty easy to hook but difficult to land! They fight hard and make long runs. Patience is the key.
