Grand Cayman Fishing Report December 13, 2023

Grand Cayman Fishing Report. The weather has not been good for Grand Cayman fishing this week. High winds and rough seas have rendered deep-sea fishing difficult. This weather seems to be sticking around at least until the end of the week.  If you want to fish, reef or tarpon fishing is your best bet.

The exception was Monday, after the rain slowed, a few nice catches were reported. Captain Stephen from Reel Vibes Charters had a big Wahoo that weighed in close to 30 lbs!  Captain Stephen also registered a yellowfin tuna catch for his great guest from North Carolina! Happy Guests !!

Alternatively,  the weather makes deep-sea fishing a bad choice; consider Tarpon Fishing. Tarpon fishing Grand Cayman style is done inside the harbors and canals and packs a BIG thrill. The “Silver Kings” are large (some are 80 lbs or more!) and make powerful runs and thrashing jumps to try to shake the hook. Grand Cayman Tarpon are pretty easy to hook but difficult to land! They fight hard and make long runs. Patience is the key. Captain Omar from Morning Spirit Charters loves to fish for Tarpon! He Chums the water, baits the line and waits for a strike. He uses light spinning gear. In addition to light rods and reels, Captain Omar uses light line. This adds to the challenge and the thrill.
