Anglers take note: this week’s fishing forecast starts with some challenges but promises better conditions later in the week.
Strong northeast winds will dominate, bringing rough seas and prompting small craft advisories. Offshore (Deep-Sea) trips will be difficult, so we recommend prioritizing safety and waiting for the weather to improve. If you’re itching to wet a line, consider staying in the calmer waters of the West side along the sheltered leeward shores. The challenge is getting there from the North Sound.
Each Tuesday afternoon fishcaymanislands.com offers Semi-Private Tarpon Charters. Each 2 1/2-hour charter is limited to a total of 3 guests. This is a great option for individuals that want to get a line in the water. At $250, it is a great value. Tuesday Tarpon trips are perfect when weather is too rough for Offshore or Reef Fishing as you will stay in the highly protected areas within Governors Harbor.
The forecast looks much brighter starting Thursday, with improving weather conditions and calming seas. This will reopen opportunities for offshore adventures. November is a prime month for wahoo, and with water temperatures cooling slightly, these speedy predators are abundant and ready to strike. The edges of the Cayman wall are likely to produce excellent catches. Troll rigged ballyhoo or high-speed lures in the 150-300 ft range for the best results.
Don’t overlook Reef Fishing, as grouper, jacks, and snapper will be active in the calmer conditions. Look for productive reefs near the drop-offs to maximize your haul.
November is the beginning of the high season in Grand Cayman. It is best to book your Deep-Sea, Reef Fishing and STingray City Charters early. Fishcaymanislands.com works with only the best Grand Cayman Fishing and Snorkeling Charters on the island.
Stay safe early this week, and be ready to head offshore when the winds die down. As always, tight lines and good luck out there!
