Grand Cayman Fishing Report for Sunday, January 8, 2023. Captain Stephen worked hard for his guests, and it paid off. As a result of car problems, his deep-sea charter guests got a late start. At first, The fishing started slow for the Mom, Dad, and teenage boys. After that, Trolling around Northwest Point for most of their trip didn’t produce any strikes. No other boats were reporting catches either. Captain Stephen told his guests, “it is time to change it up!” Next, he set REEL VIBES, 34′ SeaVee, into the current off of Northwest point and started to chunk and drift for yellowfin tuna. A short time later, the 14-year-old teenager was hooked up. As a result, The young man fought the  40+lb to the boat, and Captain Steven helped to get the beauty into the boat. First thing to remember The Angler and his family will have a memory that will last a lifetime.

Yellowfin

A 40+lb Yellowfin Tuna is prized fish in the Cayman Islands. Yellowfin are fast swimmers, strong, and can run very deep. All of sudden, Fish like that are not caught every day around the island. “Getting a big fish like that into the boat is always a thrill,” says Captain Stephen. The whole family had big smiles on their faces. A day, which started badly for the guests quickly became a day of fond memories for the family of four due to Captain Stephens’s hard work. “Seeing smiles on my guest’ faces after a memorable day on the water makes me smile and warms my heart.”

Other Vibes

Later in the week, while trolling toward the East End of Grand Cayman, Captain Stephen and his guests landed a good-sized wahoo. Wahoo (Acanthocybium solandri) is loved by sports fishermen in the Cayman Islands. Its speed and high-quality flesh make it a prized and valued game fish.
