Grand Cayman Fishing Report For March 1, 2022

Big barracuda!

Jim Crosby and his son Henry joined Reel Vibes Charters for a morning of Grand Cayman fishing. Captain Stephen Ebanks and mate Sean Bodden were joined by Rick and Christine from fishcaymanislands.com too.

The morning was calm at sunrise. By the time the 34′ SeeVee exited the reef through Augustus channel, the wind and waves picked up as we headed towards Northwest Point.  1-3′ seas looked promising.  The 80w Penn wireline would get a workout.  The 1st strike hit the wireline and was gone in an instant.  Next, a hard hit off SMB,  had the wireline screaming and left Henry from Nantucket, Ma. with a dead arm.  Big Wahoo?? Nope Monster Barracuda. “That’s the biggest Bara I’ve seen in a long time” Captain Stephen exclaimed.   Soon, another strike and a good long run. Wahoo? Nope, fooled again! Another big Barracuda left Stephen just shaking his head.

Another @#$% Barracuda!

This time it was Christine’s arm that went limp.  Good thing she keeps in shape.   One more small Barracuda and the wireline went quiet.

Next was the Bonita feather with 2 on just as we passed Turtle Farm. Jim, pulled these in quickly, but not before the “Taxman” took his share. Both got hit with look like wahoo marks.

Overall, a nice trip with Reel Vibes.
